Mátki Sámi ja Sámi áigodagaid čađa
(The Roadtrip through Sápmi and the Sámi seasons)
Gunvor Guttorm
Installation, various materials
In this project, I investigate the process of duodji (traditional Sámi handicraft), and investigate the way in which I have solved some duodji ideas. I bring the everyday activities forward and work with the reality that many indigenous individuals deal with.
The idea for this project suits me because I had some thoughts about what I was planning to produce. Craftsmanship based on ideas attracts me. I can see that craftsmanship based on ideas concentrates on the fact that the craftsman works more with concepts, and little by little begins to create visually. The work and the results of it are two installations: 1) Mátki Sámi ja Sámi áigodagaid čađa – The Road Trip through Sápmi and the Sámi Seasons. 2) Čiehkádeapmi – Hiding.
